Finishing Requirements

Poly-Classic Craftsman Series Columns are considered to be "paint grade." It is recommended that they be painted with two coats of acrylic latex paint applied according to the paint manufacturer's instructions. Columns that are installed in direct sunlight will perform best when painted with light colors to minimize thermal gain that can cause warping. The white colored PVC in these column wraps is actually treated with a UV inhibitor, so they do not have to be painted for warranty purposes. However, by the time the column wraps are glued, finish-nailed and nail holes are filled, you'll probably want to paint them for cosmetic reasons.
